"You again. State your business."
The doorman for your phoneiOS
Bernie Bouncer stands at the door of your distracting apps. Want back in? You will have to talk your way past him.
Put Instagram, TikTok and friends on the list. iOS raises the shield. When you cave, you plead your case to an AI bouncer with a long memory, and if your reason holds up, you get a timed pass. That is the whole deal.
Working the door
1
Pick the apps that eat your evenings. Bernie puts up the velvet rope using Apple's Screen Time technology, pointed at your own worst habits.
2
Open a listed app and you meet the shield instead of the feed. No feed, no autoplay, no "just checking". The door is shut until you have a word with the doorman.
3
Make your case in chat. A good reason earns a timed pass, a weak one gets you a cooldown. When the minutes run out, the rope goes back up on its own.
Door staff
Four doormen, four levels of mercy. Each one negotiates differently, and every one of them remembers your track record.

The Soft Touch
"Oh sweetheart, five minutes. But you promise me, yes?"
The Silent Type
"Desire is the door. Discipline is the key."
The Examiner
"That is not an argument. Try again, with reasons."

"Seven rules. Break none of them, because you cannot. That is the point of me."
Blocking runs on the native iOS Screen Time shield. It survives app kills, restarts, and your 2 a.m. weak moments.
Talk your way in and you get minutes, not the whole night. When time is up, the door shuts itself. Natively.
Your trust score, your streaks, the excuse you used last Tuesday. Repeat material does not land twice.
Hand your pass back before it expires and your standing at the door goes up.
Get denied and there is a cooldown before you can plead your case again. Begging is not a strategy.
Optional adult-content filter, powered by the system web filter. Flip it on and it stays on.
Your Screen Time data never leaves your device. Apple designed it that way, and we like it that way.
Privacy, the short version
The apps you block and how you use them are handled entirely on your device by Apple's Screen Time frameworks. Apple hands us opaque tokens, not app names, so your usage never reaches our servers. No ads, no data selling, no tracking you across other apps.
